From March until June 2010 I worked for Oxfam Novibs' Middle East department on the establishment of an agricultural platform in Egypt. There are several agricultural NGOs in Egypt, with similar activities and goals. However, they hardly cooperate or exchange experiences as there is a level of distrust. If Oxfam Novib invites the NGOs to a meeting they will come, meet each other and become enthusiastic about cooperation. The goal of the agricultural platform is exchange experiences and lobby together towards government and private sector on behalf of the farmers. The launch meeting that I organised was a success and the platform already developed future plans.
