Nyota means star in Swahili. When I was working in Tanzania people often called me Nyota and this is how I got the name for my business. I believe that everybody is a star, that everybody has talents. But not everyone has the opportunity to develop these talents. This is particularly true for developing countries, where the majority of the people is merely surviving. A honest and own income makes it possible to decide how to spend this money and how to give direction to your life. My mission is to contribute my bit to poverty reduction in developing countries. For example by showing consumers in Europe how their shopping behaviour influences the lives of other, often poor, people. By consciously choosing the products you buy you can help people at the other side of the world earning an income that makes it easier for them to develop their talents. I do this with my own projects, but also by projects assigned by others. This varies from research and advice, to training and fundraising. |
